                Detailed Summary
            

            
By notification S.O. 164(E) dated 12 January 2026, the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) issues a final declaration under section 20E(1) of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), confirming acquisition of land for the Special Railway Project '4th Line between Barejadi-Nandej (Geratpur)-Sanand (38.20 km)' in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. It follows the Central Government's earlier declaration of intention to acquire the land, made by notification S.O. 490(E) dated 23 July 2025 under section 20A(1) of the Act; the substance of that notification was published in The Indian Express (English), Sandesh (Gujarati) and Rajasthan Patrika (Hindi) on 26 July 2025 as required under section 20A(4). The competent authority received no objections under section 20D and has submitted its report to the Central Government under section 20E(1). The Central Government accordingly declares the land in the annexed Schedule acquired for the project, and under section 20E(2) the land vests absolutely in the Central Government, free of all encumbrances, on publication of the notification. The Schedule covers a total of 13,591 square metres of agricultural land at villages Chosar and Giramtha, Taluka Daskroi, District Ahmedabad. The notification is signed by D.R. NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 12th January, 2026
S.O. 164(E).—Whereas, by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways (Railway
Board), number S.O. 490(E), dated the 23 July, 2025 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section
3, Sub – section (ii), dated the 23 July, 2025 and issued under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989
(24 of 1989) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declared its intention to acquire the
land specified in the Schedule annexed to the said notification for the purpose of execution of the Special Railway
Project, namely, 4TH LINE BETWEEN BAREJADI – NANDEJ (GERATPUR) – SANAND (38.20 KM) IN THE DISTRICT OF
AHMEDABAD in the State of Gujarat.
And, whereas, the substance of the said notification has been published in the daily local news papers,
namely, The Indian Express (English), dated the 26 July, 2025, Sandesh (Gujarati) dated the 26 July, 2025 and
Rajasthan Patrika (Hindi) dated the 26 July, 2025 under sub-section (4) of section 20A of the said Act;
And whereas the Competent Authority has not received any objection under section 20D from any persons;
And whereas, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the competent authority has
submitted its report to the Central Government.
Now, therefore, upon receipt of the report of the Competent Authority and in exercise of the powers
conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the land
specified in the Schedule annexed hereto shall be acquired for the aforesaid purpose.
And further, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby
declares that on publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, the land specified in the Schedule annexed
hereto shall vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances.
