Detailed Summary

Notification No. 02/2024-Customs (N.T.), S.O. 177(E), issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), at New Delhi on 15 January 2024, is made under sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962). It amends the principal notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated 3 August 2001 (S.O. 748(E), published in the Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii)), last amended by Notification No. 95/2023-Customs (N.T.) dated 29 December 2023 (S.O. 5492(E)), by substituting Tables 1, 2 and 3 with revised tariff values. The new values (in US dollars) are: Crude Palm Oil $869, RBD Palm Oil $874, other Palm Oil $872, Crude Palmolein $877, RBD Palmolein $880, other Palmolein $879 and Crude Soya bean Oil $928 (all per metric tonne); Brass Scrap (all grades) $4862 per metric tonne; Gold in any form availing the benefit of entry 356 of Notification No. 50/2017-Customs dated 30 June 2017, and gold bars (other than tola bars) or gold coins of not less than 99.5% purity with gold findings, at $662 per 10 grams; Silver in any form availing the benefit of entry 357 of the same 2017 notification, and silver or silver medallions/coins of not less than 99.9% purity, at $747 per kilogram; and Areca nuts, unchanged at $8140 per metric tonne. S.O. 177(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, being satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to do so, hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated the 3rd August, 2001, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.
