NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 8th September, 2026
[PART II—SEC. 3(iii)]
O.N. 35(E).—In pursuance of the provisions of clause (c) of Section 60 of the Representation of the
People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby specifies that electors above the age of 85 years and persons with
benchmark disability as already marked/flagged in the database of the electoral rolls of the State and who requests for
voting by postal ballot paper and subject to the verification of his request by concerned Returning Officer, would be a
class of persons to give his vote by postal ballot in the current bye-elections to the 35-Madurantakam(SC) and 101-
Dharapuram(SC) Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu, 09-Thattanchavady Assembly Constituency in
Puducherry, 70-Rejinagar and 210-Nandigram Assembly Constituencies in West Bengal and 09-Nagaon
Parliamentary Constituency in Assam to be notified on dated 09.09.2026, under Section 30 of the Representation of
the People Act, 1951, as per the provisions in Part-IIIA of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961.
