Detailed Summary

This gazette contains two notifications from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, both dated 21st February 2024. By S.O. 806(E), issued under sub-section (2) of section 2 of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956), the Central Government further amends notification S.O. 689(E) dated 4th April 2011 (Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii)). In the Schedule to that notification, the entry for serial number 73 is substituted with National Highway 21, described as the highway starting from its junction with NH-48 near Jaipur and connecting Dausa and Bharatpur in Rajasthan, then Agra and Jalesar, and terminating at its junction with NH-530B near Sikandra Rao in Uttar Pradesh. By S.O. 807(E), issued under section 5 of the National Highways Act, 1956, the Central Government further amends notification S.O. 1096(E) dated 4th August 2005 (originally issued by the erstwhile Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways). In the Schedule to that notification, serial number 24 is substituted to direct that functions relating to the execution of works for a large number of National Highways (including Nos. 2A, 11, 24A, 27, 28B, 28C, 29, 56, 58, 74, 75, 76, 86, 91, 91A, 92, 93, 96/new 330, 235, and numerous new highway numbers including the new NH 21 Agra-Jalesar-Sikandra Rao section), as situated within the State of Uttar Pradesh, shall be exercisable by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. A note records that the principal notification S.O. 1096(E) dated 4th August 2005 was last amended by S.O. 692(E) dated 14th February 2024. Both notifications are signed by Abhay Jain, Deputy Secretary, under file numbers 14013/5/2024-P&M and NH-14013/5/2024-P&M respectively.
