                Detailed Summary
            

            
Dated 28 February 2024 (Ref. LB/4/2021-INST-Lab-HO-CPCB-HO), the Central Pollution Control Board (Parivesh Bhawan, East Arjun Nagar, Delhi-110032), acting under clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 12 and Section 13 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) read with Gazette Notification No. S.O. 2340(E) dated 16 June 2021, recognizes thirty laboratories as 'Environmental Laboratory' to carry out functions entrusted to environmental laboratories under the Act and rules made thereunder, and appoints named individuals at each laboratory as Government Analysts for analysis of samples of air, water or other substances, for parameter groups spanning Physical Tests, Inorganic (General/Non-metallic and Trace Metals), Organics and Trace Organics, Microbiological Tests, Toxicological and Biological Tests of Water and Wastewater, Characterization of Hazardous Waste, Soil/Sludge/Sediment and Solid Waste, Ambient Air/Fugitive Emissions, Stack Gases/Source Emission, Noise level and Meteorological Monitoring. The laboratories are located across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa and Gujarat, with validity of recognition dates ranging from 10 September 2024 to 31 January 2026. These entries are added, as serial numbers 158 to 187, after serial number 157 of the earlier notification No. LB/4/2021-INST-Lab-HO-CPCB-HO dated 11 December 2023; a note states the recognitions take effect from the date of Gazette notification, while Government Analyst appointments run for the stated validity period or until the analyst's superannuation, whichever is earlier. The notification also traces the principal notification dated 28.03.2022 (published vide No. Legal 42(3)/2022 dated 7 April 2022), as subsequently amended on 22 July 2022, 25 November 2022, 2 June 2023 and 11 December 2023. No. S.O. 2340(E) dated 16th June 2021, the Central Pollution Control Board, Parivesh Bhawan, East Arjun Nagar,
Delhi- 110032 hereby recognize, (a) the Laboratories specified in column (2) of the table below as ‘Environmental
Laboratory’ to carry out the functions entrusted to the Environmental Laboratories under the said Act, and the rules
made there under, and (b) specified persons in column (3) of the table as the Government Analysts for the purpose of
analysis of samples of Air, Water, or other substances sent for analysis, specified for respective groups of parameters
mentioned in column (4) After Sr.No.157 of the Notification No LB/4/2021-INST-Lab-HO-CPCB-HO, dated 11th
